I'm going to Mexico and I'm taking...

I recently had the sudden desire to move to Mexico, partly because my mom is currently in Orlando Florida enjoying the sun and because of this music video.

It's kind of hard I guess, being stuck up in Logan especially with the cold and rain we have had the past few weeks. I'm also having a hard time with the whole social aspect of college. I'm having a hard time living off campus keeping up with the social status I spent two years building up for my self. After working on the campus favorite game Humans Vs Zombies. Read all about it here, the best part is the stupid things people say.

I guess what I really need is a vacation. Sadly Logan is too cold and "dark" for my taste. I guess I'm just having a hard time adjusting to this sudden onset of winter, it's not that fun.

Any ways... I guess I won't move to Mexico, but I may end up spending a day just letting myself go. Chill and not care what anyone says or does.

Easy as Pi... or Maybe Cake

A while back I got this great idea to bake my own marble cake. Then I realized that I'd end up having a ton of cake so I put it off. Well this semester I am an administrator for the Humans Vs Zombies game here at USU, and I had this great idea to bring treats to every meeting. Well tonight is our last meeting for the semester before the game starts. And from past knowledge these meetings go really late because we still have a ton to plan. Thus I decided to make the marbled cake.

The cake part turned out great just look at that marbling. It's perfect, anyway.

The next best part is it's filled with a chocolate icing. (Didn't want to try the gnash without practice first).

So after the epic cake comes the epic decorating. Now as I said this is for the administrators for the game of zombies so please no making fun of me, okay?
Not exactally what I was going for but it ended up good. I was intending on piping a great design on it but I put too much milk in my frosting and then didn't have enough powdered sugar to counteract it. Good thing I'm  inventive though. All that decoration was melted chocolate icing that I applied with a pastry brush.

I'm just pleased the cake didn't end up being a wreck.  Best part of all of this is, I'm semi-self taught. And I just make things up as I go... I think it could end up being a problem some day. But for the time being I'm pleased. Hopefully the people eating it will be pleased too.

Oh I forgot one thing.

My kitchen is being invaded by chocolate leaches.

School... Oh Boy!!

So school is in session...

One sec... I just found a spider in my room... Groodie

So I lost the spider... bad news bears. Now I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight. But hey, the nights I do sleep are few and far between. Most of my sleeping now comes in the early to mid morning hours. Which is bad. I can't sleep mostly because I can't calm down enough to actually sleep, it's got nothing to do with any of the other usual factors (temperature, noise, games, no desire, ect all).

Any way school. At the moment it's a battle of me kicking its butt and then it kicking my butt. Not my preferred method of going through school, trust me it's exhausting. I love where I'm at in school I got just about 3 semesters left, after this one of course. It's just all my classes require an excessive amount of reading and preparing for lectures. Now I'm not going the first person to say that reading textbooks is the single most torture exque activity any one can make me do. Even my favorite text book (for my Plants and Society class) makes me wish I could stab my eyes out with a screwdriver, or maybe a spoon, I think that would hurt more.

Sorry you get to hear my ramblings, I guess that's just what happens when I get on a roll... I just can't stop.

But I have to say I have been the most proactive and organized I have ever been. My planner has stuff to do every day and I have a white board that I keep track of everything I need to do as well. It's way fun... I fill it up twice a week, and if I'm lucky it'll get emptied twice a week. Here's what it looks like today.
And not everything quite fits on there. I feel it's brilliant, I love crossing things off lists. It's one of my weird quirks. Aside from school kicking my butt, life is good. I got great roommates who are some of the most entertaining people I have met. We have great times, like we lost the remote to our TV, within 12 hours of using it. I have no clue how it happened but it did.

So I guess the long and short of it is, life is good; sleeping is hard; school is a pain; and I still have no job. I guess I've got to go work on those.

Peace faithful readers.

Ten years... that's half a life time ago for me.

People talk about 9-11-01 and remembering where you were and what you were doing. But I'd like to pose a different question.

WHAT DID YOU FORGET??

Did you kiss your spouse before you left to work?
Did you call your parents to tell them you love them?
Did you kneel with your family in prayer asking for the Lord's protection for the day?
Did you remember the neighborhood carpool?
Did you skip an important meeting to sleep in?
Did that day bring to your remembrance the things that make your life better?

I'll tell you what I forgot. I forgot my 5th grade parent teacher conference. I forgot what it was like sitting with my mom and having my teacher tell me how good of a student I was. But there was something I remembered. Her name is Florence Wright, she is my Grandmother, She was visiting that day, more like that month. She lives in Maryland, and she didn't want to go home out of fear. But I remembered something very important. That was family, I remembered the love and peace I felt when I was surrounded by them. And although the world was filled with disbelief and fear, I had love in my heart.

SO NOW WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER?

Do you remember the prayer you gave that day to bless the people of NY, DC, and PA?
Do you remember those who fought for their safety?
Do you remember the people who were running into the building while others were running out?
Do you remember how the people of our country rallied together to show ourselves that we were not going to be beaten in such a manner?
Do you remember to forgive those who wronged you for fear that they won't be there tomorrow?

Thinking now I remember I was scared. I remember my teachers parents and grandma were worried, but I was too young to understand what that fateful day meant. But now I do. Having ten years to reflect seems to have helped with how important this event was. 9-11 was the first day of a new type of war. War built on fear and intimidation, but in my eyes that was not what happened that day. Yes there was wide spread terror and an overall feeling of intimidation but there was an excessive amount of love, heroism and American pride and camaraderie that the world had never seen.

Never Forget!

New Semester New Times

So I'm back in Logan and am missing home. But lucky for me I got a nice little apartment with a nice little room that feels more like home than the dorms.  Oh I have pics of it... It's a cute little place.

My closet and my jewelry holder made by my dear sister Paige.
Here is the study corner. with my desk and book case.

My bed and another angle of my Desk

My dresser... which is in fact chuck full of clothes
So that's my room... I'm really excited for school and I love all my classes so far. But tomorrow is another day and I'll see how I like those classes.

As for roommates I love them all Audrey is great and absolutely hilarious. and Becky is just as much fun. I think I am going to have a great time living with them.

Sadly I had to leave my favorite ward in Orem to come up here but I think my new ward is going to be great too. It feels a lot like my freshman ward right now which I can handle.

So basically that's life right now. I guess I need to get back to studying so I don't fall behind.
Till next time

Life...

So it's been a while and life has been flying by. I haven't had the time to notice it's the month of August before it's already mostly gone and I'm moving back to Logan. So... August, it's a good month... as I said earlier I  got to go to the concert.

The week after was my birthday, which was a good day. I went shopping with my mom and then went to dinner with my family at Mimi's Cafe. I had the best chicken oh goodness. Well after that my friends threw me a little party. I got to stuff cake in one of their faces... and then he stuffed it in mine. It's the weirdest sensation to get cake smeared across your face. After that I met up with my family and had some more cake but this time it wasn't stuffed in my face. Colton also joined in with my family for cake, which was way nice of him considering it was 10:30 when we finally ate the cake.

Then there were a few days of just chilling in there. I got to spend a night helping Colton, his mom and his nieces, Jordan and Cameron. They are the funniest little girls I have ever met. We played most of the night and got ice cream. It was really fun, until a computer glitch caused the fun to end suddenly. But that's okay... it just adds another story to the long mix.

Then there was Elder Kenny Fryar-Ludwig's farewell which was awesome. Funny enough driving out to Fruitland is a really pretty drive. But it was really long. The night before I partied with Amberly and Tasha which was great... we made cupcakes and watched chick flicks. Great combo.

Well all that leads into this week... The week of "see ya later's" and "I'll be around's". I really don't want to go back to Logan right at this moment. This summer has been too good to me. But everyone says that it has to change... because "summer fades into fall, fall to winter, winter to spring, and spring brings back summer again". And some how that cycle really has no beginning or end, no exact start, and no single point of termination.

I guess I'll leave all of you on that note to think about.

Wednesday Night Concert

So Wednesday August 10th has to be one of the greatest days I have had almost all summer. I got the chance to go to my first legit concert. It was at the fair grounds in South Jordan which were nice. I went with my friend Colton.

Sorry it's a bad picture... He's not a fan of pictures and the sun was really bright.
The concert was great and included performances from DJ Miller, Thompson Square, and Mark Wills. We actually got pretty good seats concidering. So... here were some of my favorite songs from the concert.

DJ Miller

Thompson Square

Mark Wills

The concert was really great. The people there were getting a little crazy and drunk, which was really funny. Mark pointed that out. He said something on the lines of "you'd only be bad crazy if you were all drunk. and I know you don't do that here in Utah."

He also was having a fun time teasing the rock fans. He would start playing a popular song and then when it got to the point where the lyrics would start he would stop. It was really funny. He also sang some Alabama songs which were really good. I think I'm going to have to go find some of their music, seems like they were realy good back in the day.

Falling Skies

So while house sitting my neighbors I found a new favorite TV show, and like with me and TV I only find favorites after the searies is all over. Well not this time. The show Falling Skies is on TNT Sunday nights at 10:00. It's about an alien invasion of earth and how the humans are trying to survive. Call me crazy but I love it. There are so many big TV names in the show like Noah Wyle, Drew Roy, and Colin Cunningham. There are so many different aspects to the plot that it is enjoyable to watch, and in my opinion it is one of the best shows out right now.

First installment

So here is the very first part of my book that I'm working on. Read it, leave comments. I want to know how to make it better

Lynn Washington was glued to the television, never before had things escalated to this magnitude. There had been wars and technology failure but this topped it all, offensive war lasers aimed for the island of Korin backfired and demolished the island nation of Cartan. Right after the destruction an earthquake ripped through Raforen demolishing a high capacity power plant causing wide spread chaos. And to top it all off the last drops of Oil had been removed from the Southern Ice Fields leaving the earth void of any of the precious black liquid. Luckily Lynn’s home country of  Bethell had been saving up for such an incident, stockpiling oil for the past 7 years had yielded enough oil to last the country 10 years on minimum consumption, only 5 at the current consumption.
Lynn didn’t usually watch the news while waiting for the kids to come home but Lynn was concerned for her little family but also her husband, General Hal Washington, the highest ranking general in the Bethell army.
Out of the corner of her eye Lynn saw the bus pull up to the stop in front of the house, leaving her 3 youngest children, James, Rose and Emma to walk to the door.  Emma was pulling James and Rose by the hand, so excited to show her mom what she had made at school.
“Mommy, mommy, mommy, look we made butterflies with our hand prints at school,” at that point Emma jumped up on her mom’s lap and showed her the picture.
“That looks so good, why don’t you go hang it up on the fridge with all the other pictures you’ve made.” Lynn shifted her position to better see her school weary children. Just then the sound of Nicole coming home rang through the house. Nicole always came home with her boyfriend James on his fancy motorbike. Nicole and Lance met about a year ago and had been dating ever since then, even with Lynn making her distaste known to Nicole. Nicole never let that bother her, and constantly tried to find ways for her and Lance to be together.
Nicole and Lance ran to Nicole’s room where she had a bag packed and ready to go. Her plan would be finally put into action, she was running away and there was nothing her mother could do about it. it was all planned, they were going to go to the small mountain rang and live with Lance and his family. Nicole knew that she couldn’t leave with out facing her mother one last time. She took a deep breath right before she opened the door to her room to leave.
“You okay? Not having second thoughts are you?” Lance had this way of reading Nicole’s mind and stating it in such a way that i seemed the thought was no longer a problem.
“Nope I'm just fine, just preparing myself for facing my mother. She’ll probably hate me after this.”
“Don’t say that. she’s your mother. Lynn can be harsh but it’s because she loves you but you’ll always be her little girl.”
“Thanks, now let’s go, we’re burning daylight.” Nicole grabbed the bag and walked out the door only to find her mother standing sitting on the couch right by the front door.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Lynn slowly stud up.
“Mom Lance and I are going to visit his family down in the Coradian Mountains. We’re going to spend six months there then we’re going to travel the surrounding area for a month. After that we are going to get married and live down there,” Nicole knew her mother wouldn’t allow her to follow through with the plan but she had to try and see if her mother would reason with her.
“No,” Lynn’s response was short but firm. “No you are not going. You’re not going to marry this piece of trash. No. You can’t go. End of story.”
“Too bad. It’s all planned, we have been working on this for months.” Nicole was holding back the sheer frustration that was building in her. So she turned and her and Lance headed out the door.
Lynn stood up and blocked the door. “You are not going anywhere. You are going to say here, go to your room unpack and kiss your boyfriend goodbye. I will not let you go out there with all the crazy things that have been going on. Now go to your room.”
Nicole was determined on getting out of the house. “I’m not going to my room. you are treating this house like a prison. All you ever want is to prevent me from being happy. Dad’s gone and you’re miserable and now you try to make all of us as miserable as you,” Nicole’s words stung Lynn right down to the very core.
“Well if you feel that way fine! Leave... See if I care. You can just go off with your boyfriend, you slut. Don’t expect any remorse from me when you finally discover that he wasn’t worth it,” with that Lynn left her post at the front door and went to her room, defeated.
Lance slipped out the door and left Nicole alone with her siblings so she could say goodbye.
“Now look, don’t let anything I said effect you. I have to leave,” Nicole got on her knees and hugged Emma. “I love all of you and if you were in my shoes you’d know why I had to do it.”
“So... is Lance going to be my brother now? When are you going to come back? I’m going to miss you,” Emma’s sweet words tore at Nicole’s heart. how could a small child be able to comprehend so much.
“Don’t worry Em, I’ll be back soon. You take care of your brother and sister they need you,” with that Nicole set the little girl on the ground and turned to leave. “Rose, don’t forget you are one of the strongest girls I know, Don’t let the fear of losing keep you from reaching your dreams. I did and look where that landed me.”
James was next, but he was no where to be found. So Nicole turned and left through the front door to Lance who was waiting on the bike.
James heard the bike leave, he knew that would be one of the best moments to go console his distressed mother.
Bryan Corbin was just sixteen when his father left him at a bus stop with nothing more than the clothes on his back. An only hour before Bryan was enjoying a dinner with his family. The food was exquisite and they never had food that great unless it was a celebration of some sort. After dinner Maxwell Corbin asked his son if he wanted to go for a walk. They left the house around seven; the bus was at the stop at seven thirty.
“I would say I am sorry but I am not,” Maxwell sad with no compassion what-so-ever. “See ya kid hope you turn out well.” With that Maxwell left his oldest son. As Maxwell walked away an army issued buss pulled up.
Bryan was in a trance. “Well you getting on or not, we have a schedule to keep?” the question came from the bus driver.
“Ooh yeah,” Bryan slipped on and the doors closed behind him. “Where is this bus going anyway?”
“Hah where are we going where are we going,” the driver gave him a queer look. “You really don’t know do you . . . this bus goes to military boot camp in Alaska.”
Bryan slumped down in a bench, depressed and confused. How could his parents get rid of him so soon? He wasn’t even an adult yet. Why?

Summer Lovin'

So this summer has been great... and I haven't been doing a ton of blogging which is kind of an issue... but there is no time like the present to get y’all caught up.

So summer ended, I moved home... I started going to my neighborhood YSA ward... and it amazing... most of the cool fun stuff I've been doing all summer is thanks to them. If not I would probably sit at home on my butt all day and do nothing.

Some of my fun adventures include campfires up the canyon, late night Denny’s runs, camping out for the 4th of July parade in Provo, hiking Timp Cave, Harry Potter premiere parties, Fondue nights, henna... the list continues every weekend.

But not only do I have a great ward I have a great work, I am currently working at NovaRad... it's a company that deals with radiology equipment mostly software that makes doctors lives easier and more difficult at the same time. I answer phones and direct calls and sit around all day. It's great. I love my job.

The best news of the whole summer is I was accepted in to the Huntsman School of Business which is a huge step for me because now I can actually start getting into my program. Instead of living on campus again like I did the last two years I am living in Forest Gate Apartments which will be nice. I'll be a lot closer to my friend Callie (who is featured in my profile picture).

I feel really lucky this summer because I have actually been seen on the dating list... I have gone out on 2 dates with a real nice guy... and I get the chance to go on another date with him on Saturday with a bunch of friends. It's been a really great time. I really like him don't get me wrong but there are a few little things that bother me
about him.
So I was reading one of my friends blogs today and he gave me this great idea... he's posting parts of his books and stories he's writing on his blog to get some publicity. Well I'm going to steal his idea but instead of publicity I want feedback. I really want to know what you think about my writing and help me improve. I currently have about 5 chapters of a book finished so I'll be posting them periodical and see what you guys think. Hope that's okay... if not then too bad. It's my blog...

Things are getting better in life and everything is working out well and for the better.... So now I'm going to post some pics from the activities that have been going on in my life.

March = Madness

In lieu of March Madness I have for you my list of Elite 8 events for the month of March.

8) (Wisdom Teeth Out) – So… over spring break I got the great opportunity to get my wisdom teeth out. It was the first day of the break, and I had been dreading my break just because of this, 10 weeks I worried and asked friends for stories. But my dread was wrongly placed because I was in and out in 20 minutes. There were no problems, no crazy bleeding, no infection, best part of all no swelling. Thus no embarrassing pictures.

7) (DanceSport) – Being home for spring break I got to see my li’l sis dance when I was home for spring break. National DanceSport is my favorite ballroom dance competition. My Courtney danced and did well in all of the ones she danced beating out between 20 and 30 couples before being eliminated themselves. All-be-it the chairs at the Marriott Center messed with my back a bit and being there most of the day for the 3 day event, it got me in trouble with… (cough, cough, wink, wink). Let’s just not get into that right now.

6) (Day on the Beach) – So a few days ago I got the great chance to enjoy the amazing weather we were having in Logan. We found time to play on the “Beach”. The beach is the grassy area separating the actual lawn from Bullen. Almost everyone on my side of the building was out studying and or playing with the football or Frisbee. One day later it snowed.
Frisbee on the Beach

5) (Packages and Letters) – So this month I got a random call from my Aunt Becky, she needed my address for something. When I finally find out what she sent I was way excited when I found this. But not only did I get a package I got a letter from Elder Gines, my missionary friend in Arcadia, California. I had sent him a letter back in January so it was a really exciting day.

Fun Stuff!!! Thanks Becky
4) (Zombie Weekend) – For an activity for Area Government we decided to prepare our area for Humans Vs Zombies, we decided to throw a mini zombie weekend. We all got together and practiced for the real event. We had target practice, explanations on how to modify guns, tactic sessions and a chance to try all it out on an obstacle course. I got the great chance to create some really gross looking pasta for the obstacle course. And let’s say it looked horrible and was sticky enough to attach it’s self to the wall. The whole weekend was oodles of fun.

3) (Pedicure) – Well spring break and my mom treated me really well, my favorite day was Wednesday. We went to Kneaders for breakfast then went to go see the girl who does my mom’s pedicures. Funnily her name is Nicole too. So we went and I got a pedicure, which was like heaven for my feet. They looked so cute and still do 3 weeks later.

Cute toes

 2) (Modding Gun) – So after zombie week I decided to fix my gun so it could shoot farther. Well I got together with my friends Amberly and Paul. I had been working on my gun for about 20 min before Paul showed up. Then from there we went to the store to get some supplies; namely a drill for Paul’s gun so he could modify his. In the end of things Paul’s gun which required the drill took a total of about 25 min where as my modifying my gun took about 5 hours. Proving yet again that I always do things the hard way.
No party is complete with oreo's
Paul and Amberly looking at instructions

1) (DanceFest) – I love dance competitions and RHA gets the chance to help out with Utah DanceFest, a dance competition for hip hop, jazz, contemporary, and modern dance. Working with AG we get the chance to work at DanceFest. It was great. I spent almost my whole weekend there as the backstage manager. Which was great, helping the girls on and off the stage and making sure that everything was running smoothly.

So this tops off the elite eight but here are some more honorable mentions that were still great but didn’t make the tops list.

Honorable Mentions

Job Offer. I got offered a slot in the alternates pool for living with USU Housing and come to find out I was on the top of the list.
New Phone
FireHouse with Callie. To help relieve stress Callie and I went to FireHouse Pizza and had a great time. After pizza we went to her apartment and had root beer floats, then went and saw the movie True Grit. It was a great night.
Fire Alarm. So my building has done a great job of not setting off the fire alarm. Well recently it went off 2 days in a row. I was suddenly disappointed.
New Phone. I got a new phone when I went home and it is a great little phone. It does everything I want and need it to. It is so sleek and streamline.
Steps.
Wardies and Nails. So the night after DanceFest I went and hung out with my friend. We ran into some of our other ward members. We did our nails really cute and watched the Joseph Smith Movie. It was great and a good bonding moment.
20,000 Bouncy Balls. So at USU we have a week for each college and one of the science weeks was this month. In celebration of this week the school had a helicopter come and drop 20,000 bouncy balls from a helicopter. But it was anticlimactic the balls weren’t dropped but dumped which was a little less exciting.
Steps. So to support the efforts in Japan I got Steps braided in my hair. It was real cool and lots of fun.

DED spells dead

So two weeks ago sunday night my computer decided that it wanted a few days off. But sadly that meant that my  poor computer contracted a virus that didn't allow it to do anything at all. This ended up being bad news for me, because I had a large assignment do on Wednesday. But with the help of my friend Kenny and a box of brownies I was able to get my computer back and running again. The hardest part of the whole fiasco had to have been when I couldn't figure out how to import my iTunes library from my external hard drive. But I am smarter than I look, and I figured it out all by my self.

The funniest part of everything was I have been wanting a new computer, or to at least wipe mine and only add the programs I want. So now it looks like I'll be keeping my computer for now, which I am perfectly fine with.

Sunday is a Special Day

So tomorrow is a really special day. Elder Ballard is coming to Logan for a fireside focused on Joseph Smith and the Restoration of the gospel. And lucky for me the Institute decided to resurrect the 1,000 person choir that went to Provo in November. Now our numbers are smaller than then, but the songs we are going to sing are amazing. We are singing a beautiful rendition of "On A Golden Spring Time," and "High on A Mountain Top." However the last song is my favorite, it is based off of D&C 76 called "For We Saw Him," I just have to say I am so excited it is a great day when an apostle of the church comes to Logan.

Oh, a rumor is going around that the CES fireside for May 1st will be broad casted from Logan. People are also saying that they're going to try to get 2,000 people to sing for that. I can't help but imagine 2,000 Stripping Warriors all raising their voices to the Lord.

Brilliant

So I have recently learned that you can have two blogs linked to the same email. So I now have a professional blog for my MIS class. If you want to take a look at that one it will be more of an Academic. It's there too.

Any way that's not the point of me typing this up today. Here's the real reason. Recently I had a real desire to make french toast. I posted that idea on Facebook, some of my friends commented about how it would be such a good idea. So I decided to have a bunch of friends over for french toast and crepes Saturday morning. I decided 8 would be a good time for breakfast. Every one was so dead tired it was funny but they still found a place in their stomach's for the food. Afterwards I realized how much fun it was so I decided why not do it like twice a month. So I may start doing that. But here are some of the great pictures from the 29th. Enjoy.

This is Kenny and Tasha, they were all cuddled up on the couch and looked so cute

This is the other half of the group minus one... Megan left early

THis was all the yummy food that was left.
We ended up with 3 pieces of french toast and 1 crepe

Dishes, Doors, and Drains

So... I recently remembered being home and my dad getting mad at me for making dinner with 3 dishes in the sink. I thought I would take a moment to show him what I have to cook around every day. This is for you Dad.
This is what the sink looks like on a regular basis.

And the counter in front of the microwave.

And the little counter space left

So another funny story is how my roommates invite friends over. Friday I was trying to take a nap. When lone behold Courtney from down the hall comes to visit Candice, and Courtney has it in her head that she has to blow the house in to our room. She beats down the door whenever she wants in. It gets really annoying.

Final story, MLK Day was a wonderful day bright and sunny and warm. Well AnJeanette and I needed to go to the grocery store so we did but when we got to the back side of the building we found this.
Bullen Lake
Yes friends take a close look. the back parking lot had about a foot to two feet of water backed up. Let's look at another angle.
Spanned the whole parking lot.
So apparently the drain got backed up some how. But in my mind that proves the fact that I can call Bullen the Beach House because I found the Ocean!!
